Good on ya Dickie

Over the past few years I've been annoyed with architects and property developers building apartment buildings in the Auckland CBD that are visually unappealing and just awful. All too many were being built with the developers site on the prize of making a quick simple buck. Today i read in the NZ Herald that thats all about to change. Dick Hubbard (Akld City Mayor) annouced that he is about to "...announce plans to score every new building - from houses to high-rises - on its urban design merits, with a three tier system to throw out mediocre proposals, process acceptable ones in the normal manner and fast track those which are of high quality."
With this in mind we may hopefully see Auckland truly become a city of potential significance.
Still some years out from being fully realised but even the longest journey starts with the first step and it seems that this is a step in the right direction.

Terrace Downs

Early last year we took interest in a looking at a property in the south island called Terrace Downs. Its located west of Christchurch only an hours drive from the airport. Its a beautiful scenic drive towards the southern alps which should be snow capped about this time of year. The property is situated looking towards Mt. Hutt ski field and looks across the Rakaia river towards lake Coleridge. Construction on our villa has recently been completed and we look forward to inspecting it as soon as we can. We have taken one of the ground level, 3 bedroom units which overlooks the back nine of the golf course which i am very anxious to play. Steve Williams (Tiger Woods caddie) says its one of the most challenging back nine's he's ever encountered. Last i checked it was ranked the 3rd best course in new zealand so busting bubbles to get my golfing mates down there to play it. However in winter it becomes interesting when the water hazards freeze over. Yes Jason, an open face when playing out of bunkers!! ;-)

Mikes First Edition

In april this year i became a very proud father of an adorable little girl. She brought tears too my eyes the very moment she came into our world. An experience that is forever imprinted in my memory and one of the happiest times in my life...
When i held her my first words i said to her were "I love you, your daddy loves you..."
My first sentance said too her were "...Your Grounded for the next 18 years..." :-)
She's a month & a half now and grown so much in that time that you just try to take in as much as you can while you can when she's at this age as they just grow so quickly.
I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone, family and friends, who have been so supportive and i truly appreciate everything and all you have done for us.
Love to all

New Position

After working at Freedom Air for the past 21 months i shall as of June 20th be undertaking a new position with Pacific Retail Finance as an Account Manager.
Freedom air is a company with a great atmosphere to it and have made many many good friends in the time i have been here. So it was with a heavy heart that i made the choice to move on but it had to be done and i'm happy to stick with it. And with that said and done its time to move on to bigger and brighter things, touch wood.

Pacific Retail are a major finance company owned by Eric Watson, (the guy who thumped Russell Crowe a few years back). Growing quickly within new zealand they have recently moved offices to cope with the growing number of staff. This works better for me as they are located directly across the road from my apartment which i shall find most handy.
I'm hoping to get a bit of time off prior to starting at PRF so hope to catch up with friends and family, and our good family friend Jake Morgan who is arriving in NZ this Friday
