The Edge Wedding Part III

The edge have successfully married two couples in the past and the third couple were married this morning on Auckland's Floating Pavillion. The first two were pretty straight forward, find a Groom... Find a Bride and marry them clincher is that they have never met up until they meet at the alter.
The twist this time is that they found the Bride and then found her Two Grooms to which she would have to decide on the day of whom to marry still not having ever met them.
This morning she stood behind a curtain and could go left or right to determine who she would choose and she chose Paul. So the Bride Chantelle walked down one of the two isles to the alter to marry Paul who she finally got to meet face to face after many phone calls that were broadcasted over the radio over previous weeks.

Paul is from Christchurch and Chantelle originally from Canada and working in Auckland is a school teacher.

Little maks is always trying to play my guitars - ie. the photo shown below so i decided to buy her one of her own so purchaesd a 'preloved' Ukelele off trademe which should be perfect for her so she can have a guitar of her own to play with and destroy.

Kite Flying at Auckland's Mission Bay

Maks Update 17th September 2007

Due to the fact I had my bosses leaving drinks to attend friday afternoon I picked Maks up a little earlier than usual sometime just after 3pm where her and the other children sat at the table eating cookies. Then I scooped her up in my arms and played the usual game of 'where's daddy's car?' and it was off home stopping by foodtown for groceries where a few tantrums ensued as I wouldn't get her any lollies besides the point I'd already given her a lollipop she was holding in her hand.
Home to play and Poh Poh arrived home after work to join in on the fun and games and before long Danika showed up so we had a riot on our hands. I left for the leaving drinks after we got their dinners ready and maks and pookie enjoyed playing around in the bath together.
When I got back from the drinks at about 8pm thinking I'd cut the night short and reckon mom would have a difficult time getting them to bed. where on arriving home she had them both up sitting at the coffee table eating bread for supper. Once we got that in their tummies I set about the ritual of BEDTIME. having two kids that just want to play took a little more effort than when its just the two of us alone. So I ended up laying down with maks on the bed until she drifted off to sleep. She woke up screaming for me at about 10pm and through sobbing eyes asked to sleep in my bed which wasn't a bad idea as Danika wasn't sleeping and causing issues.
In the morning she promptly slide out or bed after waking me by smushing her nose into my face like my cats used to do but without the dribble which was nice and then she was off to wake Poh poh and Danika up and about 5 seconds later I heard screams of laughter bellowing out from the other room and it was all go from there.
Mom took Danika and Makayls to mission bay to fly kites and run around the playground while I was able to do the usual weekend chores of more grocery shopping from the Mad Butcher and other supplies I missed the day before due to hmmm distractions of a tantrum child.
When she got home she was knackered so I tried to put her into bed but she was in and out of sleep so let her lay over me with her head on my shoulders untill she drifted off to wonderland, so we ended up catching some Zzz's together on the couch till I put her down to sleep with mom while I cooked her some lunch which she guzzled down when she woke up.
The evening was relatively uneventful, just dinner, bath and bedtime stories...

Sunday morning I must've been shattered as I woke with the little one snuggled up tight next to me and didn't even hear her climb in at what ever time that was in the night. Fell asleep shortly after that only to be woken less than an hour later by a nuzzle into the face again, somewhat different from her patting my nose lastweekend and then it was off to wake Poh poh up. She seems to be very much a morning person (something she definately doesn't get from me).

Sunday well, that was only yday and I'm struggling to recall what we did, I think we spent the morning inside as it started to pour down with rain untill later in the afternoon when we went down to see Aunty Kaz and Danika before leaving around 5pm to take her home.
See fell asleep shortly after we got in the car and had a serious nappy leak which when we got to Donne's had to do a quick change of clothes and nappy then she set about being bossy wanting me to do this do that. After a while it was time to go home so I texted mom to put the oven on and as I backed the car down the drive way it was a wave and a toot toot as I drove off up the road.

6 years on after 9/11

This time on September 12th (nz time) I sat at work fixed on the internet looking for updates on the 9/11 attack on america as it unfolded recalling flash images as I'd seen on my tv at home as I got ready for work.

Memories of the passengers on the four flights involved and those that died on the ground as a result of the crashes will forever be instilled in our hearts and minds.

The heroes, brothers, sisters, parents, son's and daughters, All remembered.

All Black off to great start

A white wash game against Italy had them in disbelief after just 22 minutes as the ABs shot out to a commanding lead where the score at full time closed at 74-14 (i think)
i just know the win was mammoth
A great morale booster for the team as we head into the next match.

Maks Update 10th July 2007

Having to work on Saturdays greatly reduces time time I get to spend with Makayla which kills me but the only way I'm gonna make any dosh to afford all her luxuries.
I finished work at 5pm and sat back at home practising my guitar as Donne dropped her off at my aunties to have dinner with Mom and her cousin before coming home.
Once home she quickly set about starting the mess in the apartment with her playing cards sorting them into their suits of tractor, flowers, fairy's and other items, before laying down in my arms as I softly sang her to sleep to Colbie Callaits song Bubbly which she seems to like as I whisper in her ear the lyrics as she snuggles her head deep into my shoulder sucking her thumb.

Then when her eyes grew heavy she was put to bed where she crashed out while I waited for the Rugby to start too which I fell asleep just before game time. However Maks crawled into my bed about 4am a little later than usual and at 8am woke me when she'd found the remote by my bedside and turned the tv on which i was happy to wake up as it was at that time the All Blacks replay came on so sat back and watched that while waking up. Maks watched a little with me before turning and looking up at me with a cheeky smile saying "I go wake Poh Poh up now ok".

So as she slide off the bed and ran out of the room I heard a little loud voice say "get up Poh Poh" and that was the start of the day.

We jumped into the car and went to visit Stef and Carl at home and as she played we watched the England v's USA game before returning home where she could take her nap. After that we went to visit Lana and Steve with their new baby Jade. I know Maks was once that small but it was so long ago and so cute to see a new born baby again. Lana looked somewhat exhausted but both are ready for the new life that comes with being parents and was good to see them.

Makayla wanted to give Jade a bunch of toys to play with, she was ever so responsive and totally facinated as we reminded her that she once was a tiny little bundled up package only a few years ago. I gave them a gift voucher to be used/spent at JKs Kids Clothing which is where I get most of Makayla's clothes (well her nice clothes at least) .
Anyway, after a lovely afternoon maks and i jumped back in the car and off to Donne's where we fed her dinner and I gave her a bath before leaving for home myself.
Gave a quick toot toot from the car as she waived from the deck of the house then thanks to the coffee I'd had earlier was able to make it home.

The man with the Golden Voice

Luciano Pavarotti has passed away.

Internationally known for his operatic voice as a Tenor his life time achievement is being remembered by family, friends, royalty, politicians, celebrities and musicians.

His voice will be missed, but fortunately his recording's will live on.

Congratulations Steve and Lana Jennings

In the early hours this morning shortly after Midnight Lana started having her contractions and after just two hours of labour gave birth in their home to a precious little girl name Jade Saskia Dawn Jennings.

Born at 02.06hrs Wednesday September 5th 2007 at 7 pounds and 8 ounces.

Spoke briefly with Steve this morning as you can imagine they all somewhat exhausted but it's an amazing experince.

Massive congratulations guy's, The All Blacks have a new supporter.

Steve Irwin, In Remembrance

It's been a year since the sudden and untimely death of much beloved celebrity and conservationist Steve Irwin. Teri and their two children Bindi (named after one of steve's favourite crocs) and Bob were to spend the anniversary of his death in America in quiet surroundings.

His death shocked the world but his message lives on

The Rugby World Cup is once again about to grace our precense, the All Blacks have a good team behind them and feel that their chances of success are far better this time round.

The team is mostly international experienced players and should bring our boys to victory

My First Guitar

I Purchased my first guitar a few weeks back now purchasing the Ibanez Acoustic Electric guitar.
So far have managed to learn a few tricks but can play Hinders Better than me and Learning Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven which I've almost nailed, stuck somewhere before the first verse on Metellica's Nothing Else Matters but also have learnt Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.

Have Nirvana on the list to get down next but fingers have to learn where to go on the fret board.

Maks Update 3rd Sept 2007

After what seemed like an endless day or torture on the golf course it all disappeared when I picked maks up. Got to her kind shortly after1530hrs where I sat on the steps watching her on the see-saw with one of her friends unbeknowst to my presence. Once she caught a glimpse of me in the corner of her eye she jumped off the see-saw and ran at full speed towards me screaming "My Daddy My Daddy" as she once again ran into me at full throttle demanding to be picked up. It wasone of the staff memebers last day so we stayed to watch the circus as she was dragged in to the playground by staff and other kids and tied down to a chair where they poured whipped cream or hairmouse into her hair and covered her with wet sponges and water balloon's which the kids had a lot of fun throwing.

Mak's wasn't too into it and only wanted to go home so that's what we did so jumped into the car and headed home. Minds going blank now as not sure what we did Friday night so we'll just skip straight to saturday where I was woken up at 5am with a little finger patting the end of my nose, so I woke up laughing, as it was her suble way of saying "get up".
Saturday morning we drove out the the new mall in Albany and got some more hair clips for her as I'm completely out, then we came home where her and Danika played n played n played. Then we decided to go down to mission bay where they could play and get some fresh air. I picked my friend Yoni and her homestay student up from their house up the road and we all went down to the beach. Firsty we flew some kites and got them way way out to the end of the string, which while fun seeing it fly all they way up in the sky, meant that it took me 10 minutes to wind up all the string at the end when it finally did crash but maks had a blast flying the kite high in the air. Then it was time for the play ground where Maks was absolutely fearless climbing the ladder to get to the slide and then doing it over and over and over again. Her and danika were racing to see how face they could go again and never got dizzy running around up the stairs of the smaller slide throwing themselves down the back up to do it all again.
After that Maks and I said goodbye to Danika as mom and dad were taking her to Karyn's so Yoni Heshin Maks and myself went back to Simon and Yoni's house for a snack and more playtime.
I got home by 6pm and maks after a really long full out day was absolutely shattered and had crashed shortly after we got in the car and pretty much was down for the rest of the night.
Mom and dad were too baby sit maks while I joined Leighann at Jason's for her birthday party and Jason's house warming. When I got home at 1am (early I know for a good party but i'm too old now) I found Makayls crashed out in my bed with her knee's up under her stomach and snuggled into my pillow.
Woke up hearing maks and mom playing morning games as I lay in a semi coma mentally preparing myself to rise from the dead. When I accumulated enough energy I dragged myself into the lounge where Maks ran out with some presents for Fathers Day and helped me open them. I left for a round of golf shortly after to enjoy my fathers day getting home to Danika and Maks well into dress up games, pulling all the clean clothes out and putting them all on, particulalry fighting over one particular dress they both wanted to wear.

Maks and I chilled out for a while before I took a short nap and then dropped her back home. She once again had a full on day and crashed out in the car and didn't wake when we got to Donn'es. Was able to just lay her down in Jeff's arms and she was right out.
Thanked Donne for her gift, gave makayla a goodby kiss which seemed to upset her as it told her I was leaving her which she didn't want at all.
But had to get home to cook dinner and relax and rest up for the long week of work.
